누구나 살아가면서 완벽한 삶을 산 사람은 없다고 생각한다.
어쩌면 그것이 사람이기에 그럴지도 모른다.
내가 처음으로 산 음반 중 하나인
Joss Stone의 2집 음반 Mind Body, Soul의 1번 트랙인
Right to be wrong은 그러한 점을 다루고 있다.
실수하면 내 자신을 빼 놓을 수 없다.
요즘은 바로 얼마전 내 행동들만 떠올려 보아도,
실수투성이라는 점을 그 누구보다 잘 알고 있으니까.
그런데 이 음악을 듣고 있으면,
Joss의 목소리를 듣고 있으면 한결 기분이 나아진다.
그녀는 가사속에서 실수를 안좋게 생각하지 않고,
오히려 내가 알지 못한 경이로운 미지로 한 걸음 나아간다고 말하고 있다.
게다가 피와 살로 이루어진 사람이기 때문에,
돌로 만들어진 사람이 아니기 때문에,
잘못할 권리가 있으니 제발 나를 가만히 내버려 두라고 말한다.
주위에선 나의 실수를 가만 참지 못하는 사람이 한 둘이 아니다.
아마 그것은 나 뿐만 아니라
이 글을 보는 당신도 마찬가지일 것이다.
그럴땐 조용히 눈을 감아보자.
그리고 이 목소리를 기억해보자.
내가 아마 곡을 틀리게 부를지도 몰라요.
하지만 이건 기분이 좋아진단 말이에요.
당신의 주장만 말하지 마세요.

그리고 단순히 부정적인 생각만 하지마요.

내 앞에 무엇이 기다릴지는 모르지만,
